Intern Diary: Heavy Surf at Grand Haven Beach

Started out at the beach today. The Press is doing a story on how several people have been killed by rip currents on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan this summer. My job was to find frames of people interacting with the water.

ArtPrize is starting to ramp up, and Grand Rapids is buzzing. Murals are being painted all across town, and the opening is only a month or so away.

Today I learned that Flamingos are not born with pink feathers.

Rev. Jesse Jackson paid a visit to Grand Rapids to speak at New Life Church of God in Christ today. Luckily for me, the pulpit faced west, and he didn’t start speaking until right before sunset.

Talking heads at podiums are normally a creative struggle, but not today.
