Today I shot one of the coolest assignments of my summer here at the Press, a 500-foot water slide on Lyon street in downtown Grand Rapids. Thanks to the wonderful help of fellow intern Jessica Scott, several of the images below were picked up by the San Francisco Chronicle, New York Times, and the Charlotte Observer. Aquinas College, which is barely a mile from my house, had a community service afternoon as part of their incoming freshman orientation.

While riding the elevator up to the newsroom today, I got the call to head out to a house fire in Alto.
